MAUREEN HORGAN

Maureen Horgan is Professor Emeritus of Music at Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA.  She holds degrees from the New England Conservatory, Yale University School of Music, and SUNY Stony Brook.  Her principal teachers have been Pete Sexauer, John Swallow, John Coffee, Michael Powell, and Colin Williams. Now retired and living in New Hampshire, Maureen performed summers with the New Hampshire Music Festival from 1985-2017. 

As a freelance trombonist in Boston for 30+ years, she held positions with numerous organizations including the Opera Company of Boston and the New England Conservatory.  A frequent soloist, she appeared at international workshops including the International Trombone Association, the Eastern Trombone Workshop, and the International Women's Brass Conference, and performed master classes at multiple universities including Yale University, University of New Mexico, Florida State University, University of South Carolina, and University of North Texas.  Maureen has commissioned four works for trombone and her CD Moe's Bit o'Blues is on the Centaur label.
